I can’t see my Jumbo Jack

My parents put the newspapers in this hexagon cabinet/table after everyone was done with them, later I had to bundle them with twine and put them in the garage for recycling? What a waste of time.

On top, there was a huge lamp with a glass orb in the middle that shines green light through a screen inside? What did they call these monstrosities?

Anyway, that hexagon cabinet with the huge lamp, blocked access to look out and see if mom and dad got back from Jack in the Box yet. I almost broke the lamp trying to see.
