It’s not the keypad

The keypad to our garage door opener seemed to be KAPUT. I spent 20 minutes trying to get the battery cover off, finally gave up. Then I discovered the car remote didn’t work either! The reset routine for these things is like 18 steps and involves climbing a ladder (I don’t do that anymore).

I went inside and into the garage, started snooping around; it turned out the light switch is also wired to the garage door opener, so with the light off, there is NO garage door action.

Gotta love a simple fix! I spent the rest of the afternoon sniffin’ and hitching up my pants, as handmen like me do.
