WHEN I WAS a kid, I would get the Estes model rocket catalog, and of course I wanted to get into this hobby. I would try and try to get my dad and his wallet to join in, but dad! It’s educational! It’s a great father son activity! … And whatever else I could think of.
Dad would tamp his pipe, take a few puffs, and look at me… Then he would say the words I dreaded… “We’ll see.” Then he would go back to reading the newspaper.
All these years later, I understand- This Gibbleguts cartoon so accurately portrays what would have happened.
