It’s 1969 all over again!

We found this movie on Netflix, anyone who grew up in the 60s, it’s a must see… “Apollo 10 1/2” is less about the space race and more about growing up in those times, where all the adults smoked, kids rode in the bed of the pickup, and hippies were easy to spot.

Just by coincidence, I was riding in the bed of the truck and caused my dad to give up his pipe that very day. I was being a human tarp, when we got to the dump, aka waste transfer station, I was on the tailgate pitching junk into the pit, my dad was grabbing stuff further in, and of course smoking his pipe. He caught me out of the corner of his eye, and thinking I was about to lose my balance and become one of those throw-away kids you hear tell about, he swung his head around while yelling WATCH IT! – This caused his pipe to fly into the pit, gone forever. It was his favorite one too.

Dad was very quiet on the way home. Finally he said something like, “I need to quit smoking anyway”. Which he did. Unless you count cigars.
