There is less droll whimsy in the world today.
I just read that French cartoon illustrator Jean-Jacques Sempé passed away. The photo shown in the New York Times showed the joy he derived from his work. I researched a bit more, I don’t speak French but the little people with the big noses and tiny bodies are utterly charming.
I like to draw and thus find inspiration here. Rest in Peace Mr. Sempe, your artwork brings joy to millions.
He is so loved in France, there are postage stamps. I think in the US you have to die first to have your art or likeness on postage. Why?
