Maybe this sailor is telling his sister that he isn’t going to be around to keep her from slipping on banana peels? Otherwise, I have no idea why he is stating the obvious- (He’s in the Navy now, may God have mercy on his soul!)
What’s going to become of the sloppy kid with the banana? He is about the right age, probably Uncle Sam will send him to Korea? It’s always something.
