Man in suit of armor at the Harding museum
“Get a degree in Medieval Studies”, they said…

Alas, the castle housing this museum was torn down in 1964, in the interest of urban renewal. I don’t know what became of the dude in the suit of armor shown here.

Mr. Harding had inherited a fortune and used it to amass an eclectic and valuable collection of armor, paintings, western art, it didn’t have to have a theme- he just bought what he liked. Can you imagine?

Unfortunately, after he passed away, the museum trust was mismanaged. Some of the remaining assets are displayed by the Chicago Art Institute. More of this sordid tale here. https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1989-08-03-8901010826-story.html
