I dunno, he could be still around? This restaurant in San Jose rode his coat tails in the 80’s and 90’s, and I’m sure there were festivities on the anniversary of the jump every year. I like history, so I saved this exceptionally grubby matchbook someone sent me.
I was 11 when the infamous skyjacking occurred, and it sort of captured my imagination. It’s doubtful that he survived the jump into inhospitable territory, and some of the money was found on a sand bar years later. Could be he buried it there though.
