I am all too familiar with the gnarly senior NCO giving a person what-for. One time, early in electronics school on base, I was just out of the boot camp side. There was to be an inspection this fine Navy day, but I had yet to get a plastic nametag, which was part of the uniform. A panicky guy in the office threw a random tag at me, I think it said “Jackson”.
So at inspection I was told “Jackson, you need new shoes.” Later I returned the nametag and they made mine.
Later I saw a guy with the “Jackson” nametag coming up the stairs, and I hollered back at him, “You need new shoes!” And he said “What??” but I just kept rolling. I can’t be responsible for everyone’s footwear.
